Greetings!

I was thrilled to see so many of you at the EBPA Golf Scramble on June 18th. It felt great to see everyone in person! It was a great opportunity to reconnect with clients, colleagues, and even competing firms. And while online events may always be a part of member benefits, we are currently planning for some networking events very soon.

IMPORTANT NOTE: There is an entire page in this email that recognizes our sponsors for the golf day. Asking sponsors to support our association comes with the responsibility of in turn promoting their products and services. The recognition page includes the sponsors products/services and contact information. I urge you to mention their support whenever you are able because they made the event a success for all of us. All the industry leaders were eager to participate and those of us who played are thankful we were able to come together.

Your board is in the process of planning out the remainder of this year and those meetings and events of 2022 right now. I encourage you to consider being involved with on of our committees as we need your thinking. Sometimes just one suggestion can launch us into a great new member benefit. I hope you’ll call me with your interest.

Businesses and travel opening up gives us all a chance to have a little family time in a more relaxed environment. It’s good for your health – it’s good for your soul.

Regards,

Administration Issues Initial Rule Limiting
'Surprise' Medical Bills
Long-sought curbs on unscheduled "surprise" out-of-network health care charges became law at the end of last year with the Continuing Appropriations Act, 2021 (CAA), which included a revised version of the bipartisan No Surprises Act.

On June 30, the U.S. departments of Health and Human Services (HHS), Labor, and Treasury, along with the Office of Personnel Management, issued Requirements Related to Surprise Billing; Part I, an interim final rule that is the first in a series of regulations to implement the CAA's provisions on surprise billing, the agencies said. The agencies also issued a model notice about the new protections to post online, with instructions for group health plans and health insurance issuers.

The rule takes effect for health care providers and facilities on Jan. 1, 2022. For group health plans and health insurance issuers, the provisions will take effect for plan years beginning on or after Jan. 1, 2022.
